Dear parents and students,

Welcome to Spanish class, la clase de Español!!!.
Prekindergarten to 6th-grade students will have one 40 minute period class a week.
7th and 8th graders will have classes twice a week for 40 minutes each.

Our goal is to introduce our students to the Spanish language and culture and to enable communication at the beginner level of the language. Our average graduate will have a basic Spanish vocabulary of greetings, commands, and everyday words and phrases, as well as an understanding of the different Hispanic cultures and geographic areas.

Our UPDATED Spanish schedule 2022-2023 will be posted soon.
Mondays: K, 1st, 7th, 8th
Wednesdays: 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5a, 5b
Fridays: Pre3, Pre4, 6th, 7th 8th

Hispanic Heritage Month 2022!!

 

As part of our Spanish curriculum we will be learning and highlighting some fun facts about Hispanics in America during our lessons.

 

WHAT YOU CAN DO AT HOME:

• Read some bilingual Latin American folktales such as  “La Lagartija y el Sol/The Lizard and the Sun”, by Alma Flor Ada found at your local libraries.
•  Check out fun websites for the young ones such as:

http://www.scholastic.com/mayaandmiguel/

• Try something new: 

1. check your news for local Hispanic Festivals in the area;
2. go to the Princeton University Art Museum McCormick Hall, and check out one of the state’s largest public collections from across the Hispanic world;
3. try going to a local authentic Hispanic restaurant such as Malaga in Trenton; Tortuga’s Mexican Village or Buen Provecho in Hamilton;
4. try a hispanic recipe for the family you have never tried before: Guacamole, Arroz con Pollo, Rice and beans, empanadas...and enjoy!
