Hello Saint Ann School Families,
My name is Dayna Panarello. The students refer to me as Mrs. P. I am the school Guidance Counselor and Educational Commission liaison for St. Ann.
I attended the University of Hartford and received a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. A few years later, I attended Monmouth University where I received a Master's Degree in Social Work. In the year 2000, I worked as a case manager/social worker for the South Amboy Public School District ( pre-k-4th grade). I implemented IEPs ( Individualized Educational Plans) for those students struggling academically. I worked with the teachers by providing different strategies used to help ensure that all students receive the help needed to ensure their academic success. Made sure that each child is in the right placement setting whether it be inclusion, self-contained, general ed, etc. It was also my making sure that the teachers were following the IEP or making the accommodations/modifications that are stated in the plan.
I started as a substitute teacher at the St. Ann School in the fall of 2000. In the past two years, I've increased my responsibilities being a floating sub and school guidance counselor. As a guidance counselor, my role is to help the students in any capacity needed from conflict resolution, character building, enhancing social networks, and preparing the eighth graders for high school. I operate with an open-door policy. I will work with students individually, in small groups, and in whole-class discussions. I also work with students that are struggling academically and getting the help needed to ensure academic success. I look forward to working with your children and making it a rewarding, exciting, and successful school year.
I have been married 20 years to my husband, Anthony and we have 1 daughter, Cassandra, (17). In addition, we have a German Shepard, Mason, and two bunnies, Cocoa and Sweetie. We had an opportunity, through my husband's job, to move to Ireland for a year.
I enjoy spending time with family and friends, going to the beach, and traveling. On nice days I'll read, walk and play tennis.
