Jan.31-Feb.6 - Catholic Schools Week
Thu. 2/4 - CSW Dress Down Day
This is my sixth year teaching at St. Ann School, however, I have taught and tutored students ages 2-8th grade for ten years. I have a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Marketing from Villanova University, a Masters of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in Elementary Education from the University of Southern California, and a Masters of Education in Teaching English as a Second Language from The College of New Jersey. In my free time, I enjoy reading, exploring historical sites, going to yoga classes, and spending time with family. I am the mother of one young son and caretaker to one loveable dog.
Homework
Students are expected to write their homework in their planner. Parents should check the planner every night to make sure that the homework is complete. Students will place any homework papers and worksheets in their accordion folder which is labeled by subject. Homework is to be done on the night it is assigned. Unless there is a project or long term assignment you can expect to have the weekend off from homework to enjoy time with family. Homework will usually consist of spelling, math, and vocabulary.
Spelling & Vocabulary
Spelling words will be written in the spelling portion of the planner. Spelling homework will consist of monthly tic-tac-toe activities. On Monday students are expected to complete one activity from the tic-tac-toe board, Tuesday students are expected to complete a different activity from the tic-tac-toe board, and Wednesday students are expected to complete a third activity from the tic-tac-toe board. If pictures are taken please staple, tape or glue them to the page and write the date. For each activity the date should be written at the top. The page can be divided so that multiple activities are on one page. Thursday night students are expected to study their words. The activities will change monthly and will be stapled in the reading notebooks. Vocabulary words will be written with the definitions in their notebooks. Please study these nightly with your child so they are prepared for Friday's test.
Math
Math will consist of a workbook page that will be sent home in the math section of their accordian folders. At the beginning of a unit, math words found in the unit will be reviewed and flashcards with definitions and examples will be sent home to be reviewed every other night.
Science, Social Studies, and Religion
Religion, Social Studies, and Science homework will be given periodically. Look for study guides, homework, and other work to come home in their accordion folder.
