I hope everyone has had a good weekend. Thank you to all who were able to attend Back to School Night a couple of weeks ago. Our goal has always been to provide you with a glimpse into your child’s learning experiences during the year and to share as much information as we can to help make the year a success.
During the opening presentation, I had the opportunity to let you know about some big changes to our Christmas program. Last year provided me the chance to observe the program in depth. After much consideration, I focused on the goal of creating a performance that would provide more emphasis on the spiritual aspects of Christmas. Additionally, I wanted to find ways to give our students different opportunities that would match better with their varying ages and grade levels. For these reasons, I felt a change was needed.
The Christmas program will be performed by students in grades 4 through 8. We will continue to include the Choir Chimes and Student Choir. As in prior years, the focus will be on the Nativity.
I’m excited to share that this year, we will be adding a Spring Showcase. This performance will be for in Preschool through 3rd grade. The showcase will feature our students showing off their amazing vocal skills. We also will be incorporating a Student Art Exhibit. The date is still TBD.
While I do understand that these changes may be upsetting to some of you, I’ve made these decisions based on the best interests of our students’ various developmental needs, recognizing the impact that practice time commitments can have on the learning and social experiences of our younger students, and created new opportunities to reflect this. Our goal is also to help our students remember the reason behind the Christmas holiday.
Please reach out to me with any questions or comments.
Thank you and God Bless.
