Since so many trout had already jumped over the top of the basket, I figured it was time to release the healthy ones to the tank, and leave the less healthy fish in the basket. Since the healthier fish were beginning to nip at other fish, I wanted to separate them so the less healthy fish have a fighting chance at survival.
When Preschool students in Mrs. Juliano's class wondered about pine cones and their different shapes, Mrs. Juliano put together an experiment to see why some pine cones are open and some are closed. Mrs. Juliano demonstrated to her class last Monday that if you put pine cones in cold and warm water you can figure it out. Find out more by clicking on this story.

On November 2nd we celebrate All Souls and what a better way to do so than to prepare an "Ofrenda". Modeling the Mexican "Dia De Los Muertos" tradition, Mrs. Laccetti set up a table outside her classroom to honor the lives of those who passed. Saint Ann School faculty and students are invited to bring a picture of their deceased loved ones and to write some of the things most remembered about them and display it on the Ofrenda.
