As we approach the end of the 2018/2019 academic year, Saint Ann School 8th-grade students make their final selections for their high school education. The journey started in September 2018 when they started to navigate the application process with our guidance counselor, Mrs. Breslin. From organizing a High School Open House night to helping the students find the best fit, Mrs. Breslin has been working with our class of 2019 graduates to provide them with the best advice and stress-free experience in planning the next 4 years of their academic life. Coming now to the end of the school year, here are the high schools our 2019 graduates have been accepted into: The George School, Notre Dame, The Pennington School, and Villa Victoria. Saint Ann School is very proud of our students' achievements and we wish them many blessings as they keep growing in faith & knowledge.
Thank you all for coming out Saturday night and supporting our PTA! Special thanks to our two amazing chairwomen, Beth and Jen, for pouring their heart and soul into making this evening such a wonderful night! Thank you to all our awesome volunteers for jumping in exactly where you were needed. Finally thank you to all of our families, teachers, parishioners, and school board members who came out this evening and shopped and shopped!
Mrs. Daniel's Rainbow Trout's tank is getting some TLC from 5th graders. The trout are getting big, which means they are eating more and producing more waste in the tank. As a result, our students supervised by Mrs. Daniel do weekly partial water changes to remove excess fish waste to keep the water clean for our fish friends. The Rainbow Trout "Trout in the classroom" program was started by Mrs. Daniel in 2017. Trout eggs are given to our school by the Pequest Trout Hatchery at the beginning of the school year. Mrs. Daniels and her students take care of the trout and monitor their development. The trout will be released later on in the Spring at the Allaire State Park in Mingamahone Brook.
9 students at Saint Ann School submitted science fair projects to the Mercer Science and Engineering Fair. 7 students won awards! Click on this news write-up for the full list of awards.
With a month full of fun events, 1B is celebrating every day in style! Beginning with Dr. Seuss Day on March 1 and reading his books, to setting goals for their Lenten Journey and writing a special prayer for it. On March 17th they honored St. Patrick who spoke of the Holy Trinity with a shamrock he picked, and next they will praise St. Joseph, the hardworking carpenter and Foster Father of our Savior. So as time "marches" on, 1B learns valuable lessons from those who before us have gone.
Meet our jazzy Mrs. Juliano! Katie Juliano is our Preschool 3 teacher and this is her fifth year teaching at Saint Ann School. She loves working with our youngest students who are "so curious and eager to learn!" Her goal is to help each child achieve their full potential socially, emotionally and academically through play, small groups, and hands-on activities. Mrs. Juliano is a firm believer in developing fine and gross motor skills in the classroom through many activities, projects, and movement, and giving students the confidence to become the best they can be! Thank you, Mrs. Juliano, for helping our future graduates grow!
A heartfelt thank you to all who attended the Lenten Pasta Dinner last Friday night and supported our 8th-grade class! The event was a success and raised about $1,200, with a generous donation of $500 from one of our Saint Ann Parish families!!! We are blessed to be part of such a generous and loving community! Thank you again for your constant support and selfless giving!
A heartfelt thank you to all families who contributed to the Saint Ann School book drive to benefit Lakehurst Elementary school in NJ. The book drive, which concluded Thursday, 02/28, was held in partnership with the national, non-profit organization Operation Paperback whose volunteers collect gently-used books and send them to American troops overseas, as well as veterans and military families here at home. The drive was very successful and SAS donations helped bring the total of books collected to 2,443. It was a great opportunity to give back to those families who put their lives on the line for our Country.
On Friday, 03/15 SAS Student Council will be hiding leprechauns around the school with a Student Council logo for a Saint Patrick's day contest. SAS students will have to find them by the end of the day. When students find a leprechaun, they must show it to their teacher and write their names on the back of the leprechaun to collect their prize, a bag of Gold (Chocolate) Coins. Wishing all our students all the "Luck of the Irish"!!
Once again, Saint Ann School has joined other Catholic schools in Mercer, Burlington, Monmouth, and Ocean County for the Diocese of Trenton annual Day of Service “Hearts to Hospitals”. The focus of this service project is to collect, package and distribute items to sick children and their families staying in area hospitals, located throughout the four counties. There are many activities and events planned to help make this service project a success. SAS students, families and community members can contribute in many ways: daily prayers, items donation, and even a "Penny Jar" contest! Check out our social media and website for updates and other ways you can be involved and help us make a difference in these children's lives. Your prayers and generosity are greatly appreciated!
Students spent club time creating a maze on Makers Empire, which was then 3D printed, joined with other mazes to form one large maze such that a metal sphere ball could roll through the mazes!
Saint Ann School is happy to welcome Mrs. Geraldine Gillett as a leave replacement for Mrs. Grabowski, who will soon be taking her maternity leave. While she will be missed, we are all excited for her and the arrival of her newest family member. Mrs. Gillett will begin next Monday, 03/11. This will allow her some time to get to know the structure of the class, have planning discussions with Mrs. Grabowski, and familiarize herself with Saint Ann School. Mrs. Gillett brings a wealth of Catholic school teaching experience from her time working for the Diocese of Metuchen. She will teach Mrs. Grabowski’s class schedule for fifth grade and we are very happy to count her as a member of our Saint Ann community!
Meet our magical Mrs. Meyer! Kelly Meyer teaches 3rd and 4th-grade students here at SAS. She firmly believes that "teachers who love teaching teach children to love learning" and she strives for her students to become strong, independent people who will always be curious and think outside the box. Mrs. Meyer's classroom theme, Harry Potter, is in full swing throughout her room and the book series is one of the many tools she uses to work on her students' reading skills, bringing the theme to life as they read each book as a class. Thank you, Mrs. Meyer, for bringing magic to our school community! To know more about Mrs. Meyer, visit her webpage on or website, under Teachers Corner.
