STREAM is in full speed at Saint Ann School! 3rd-grade students were tasked with building a structurally sound rainbow sculpture using only fruit loops, play-doh, & a pipe cleaner. They had to decide how to build it and how to make it withstand a small “earthquake”. They did it successfully. They were joined by some 4th graders who built beautiful sculptures along with them. Science fun never ends at Saint Ann!
At Saint Ann School, not only do students learn how to be better stewards toward other people, but they also learn how to be stewards toward our environment. This past month, students have observed and learned about how you can turn kitchen scraps that would normally go into a landfill into a bountiful harvest in the future! A fun and environmentally friendly way to limit food waste! Check out the celery, carrot greens, and scallion that are now planted in our garden next time you come by the school!
Mrs. Bickham's Kindergarten class read a story about how the Superkids (characters of K's reading program) collected different kinds of boxes and transformed them into something new. Students in Kindergarten worked in pairs and did the same thing. The groups used their imagination and teamwork to make something new out of a plain box. The results? A fancy pig, an American jet, a playground, and a flying car! Oh, the possibilities when you let your imagination fly!
You're never too old to enjoy spending time with butterflies! From Preschool to middle school, students have been observing the transformation of the chrysalis into butterflies. Some of our teachers provided their class with a Live Butterfly Garden to study hands-on the life cycle of butterflies. Sixth grade released their butterflies last week and second-grade chrysalis just went through their transformation on Sunday. We are thankful for nature's wonders!
Saint Ann Students in 2nd and 6th-grade went on their end of year field trips this week and got in touch with nature. Second-grade students visited New Jersey Washington Crossing State Park for a pond study, where they observed life in and around the pond. Sixth-grade headed out to the YMCA Camp Bernie in Port Murray, NJ where they learned how to build a raft and tested it out, and had a great time riding the zip line! Learning and fun never end at Saint Ann's!

On Wednesday, 05/15 Saint Ann School held its annual Blue & Gold Field Day, one of the most anticipated days at Saint Ann! Students and faculty were assigned to their team (Blue or Gold) and engaged in fun games of competition stressing the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork, and communication. The highlight of the day this year was by far the Dunk Tank where our principal, Mr. C, and social studies teacher, Ms. Shields demonstrate what being a good sport truly means! The day started with a pep rally in the school gymnasium where our P. E. teacher Mr. Venanzi reminded the teams and their captains that the final outcome of FIeld Day depends on good sportsmanship by everyone, and concluded with the closing ceremony and the celebration of the winning team: way to go Gold!!
