Congratulations to Saint Ann School alumni who among other St. Ann's young parishioners attending Notre Dame High School have achieved academic excellence with honor roll distinction (no grade lower than 93%) or honor roll (no grade lower than 88%) for this past marking period of the 2019-2020 school year. We are very proud of your academic accomplishments!
Our adopted trout are getting bigger! Middle school students keep caring for them, changing the water in the tank and feeding them regularly. As the fish are growing, more fish waste and excess food get pulled into the tank filter intake. Once a week, Mrs. Daniel removes this cover and washes off the waste. Previously, the cover was there to make sure smaller fish didn't get sucked into the filter. Since the fish are bigger now, it acts as an easy way to trap waste. It's easier to remove the filter cover than to clean the inside of the filter tank. Check back for our next update from the trout tank!
Saint Ann School families, Wednesday, February 26th will be Ash Wednesday which marks the beginning of our Lenten Season. It is an early dismissal day and NO ASP will be available that day. The sixth-grade students have been working diligently to present this year’s presentation of the Living Stations of the Cross at services on Friday, February 28th. The daytime presentation will begin at 12:45 pm, while the parish presentation will take place at 7:30 p.m. and both programs will take place in the Church of Saint Ann. Friends and family are welcome to both services. We hope that marking this first Friday of Lent with their Living Stations presentation will help us, and all of our brothers and sisters in faith, spring into Lent with the promise of Easter joy ever in our hearts. For more ways to help approach this Lenten Season, visit our SAS Lent 2020 page at www.saintannschool.org/lent
Saint Ann School families, the annual SAS Silent Auction is just around the corner! Did you forget to turn in your RSVP? Never fear! We are extending the RSVP deadline one week to Friday 2/21. We hope you will join us on March 7th for a night of fun, fine dining, and dancing!
Putting their math and art skills to the test to collaboratively build the FRIENDS picture frame, Saint Ann School middle school students worked together on yet another STREAM project with technology teacher Mrs. Meyer. They did a fantastic job making five collaborative posters that will hang throughout the halls of our school to showcase the creativity and kindness within our walls.
Saint Ann School preschool students wish you a very happy Valentine's Day filled with love, smiles... and learning! PreK3 used Valentine's science experiment to find out that red and white mixed together make pink and PreK4 was engaged in some Hershey Kisses math for Valentine's Day. Learning and fun never end at Saint Ann's!
On Wednesday, 02/12 Saint Ann School students presented Mrs. Laccetti’s International Night 2020 to families and friends. Middle school students researched and created tri-folds of different countries from around the world with all the information about their customs and traditions. They prepared and brought in homemade recipes from their respective countries. Each group was called to the microphone by Mrs. Laccetti to present their country to a gym crowded with guests. Congratulations to Mrs. Laccetti and all middle school students for a wonderful job and a funfilled night!
Saint Ann School Families, now that flu and cold season is well underway, I thought I would take this opportunity to remind parents of Saint Ann School's illness policy as stated in the Parent-Student Handbook. "If your child is visibly ill, has a fever, a communicable illness, or other serious health concerns, your child should be kept home. We adhere to the following rules: a child must be fever-free for 24 hours; if your child is being treated for an infection, your child should be on antibiotics for 24 hours before returning to school; a child should not have vomited nor had diarrhea for 24 hours before returning to school. This illness policy is strictly followed for the health and well-being of all children. If you send your child to school with a fever or with vomiting or diarrhea, you will be required to pick your child up from school immediately..." Please refer to the Parent-Student Handbook on the school website for more detailed information on our Nursing Services (beginning on page 33) which includes our Illness and Medication Policies. Sharon Scipio, the school nurse may be reached at 609-882-8077, ext. 212 if you need to report an absence or if you have any questions. Please feel free to reach out to me with any concerns on this school policy. God bless! Mr. Chiaravalloti
To celebrate Valentine's Day, Saint Ann School students are going all out to spread love. Ms. Shields and Mrs. Laccetti worked with the students to write and mail Valentine's cards for Veterans, especially for 104-year-old veteran, Major Bill White. Student Council representative will be selling Candy Grams for $1 at ALL lunch periods on 02/10, 11, 12, and 13 for the special ones in our lives. All students will enjoy a special snack from room parents on Fri. 02/14 as well as a dress down day! We love SAS!
Saint Ann School students created a paper chain that reached from one end of the school to the other. Each class filled out 144 paper links with ways in which they showed kindness through service, how they used kind words with others, how they showed physical kindness, and finally ways to be kind to themselves. It was a great STREAM activity to wrap up another funfilled Catholic Schools Week
Saint Ann School 8th grade students took the lead on Friday, 01/31 and were “teacher for a day” during Catholic Schools Week Topsy Turvey. Matt and Jared taught 6A about chemical reactants and catalysts. Specifically, they demonstrated Elephant Toothpaste with three different containers and varying amounts of reactants. Grace, Naomi, and Grady had 6B students compete for top honors in Nitrotype during their technology class. Everyone had a blast! Congratulations 8th graders on a super good job being teachers!
